TRAVERLER'S INN \ HOTEL BAMIYAN
the bamiyan valley, afghanistan \\ fall 2012

A design studio project with professor James Warfield. The project required choosing a site that is an existing UNESCO world heritage site and designing a "traveler's inn" for that site. My project focused on the Bamiyan Valley in central Afghanistan within the Hindu-Kush mountains. Hotel Bamiyan is a hotel geared towards researchers, archaeologists, and students looking to investigate into the local culture, history and economy. The valley once played home to the crossroads of the ancient Silk Road passing from the far east, including China and India, to the far west including Greece and Italy. The rich culture, art and population plays a huge role in the significance of revitalizing this lost community. |
